County face Lancashire in English Schools Climax in Northampton

Two Essex girls team have a chance of national glory as they take part in the final of the English Schools FA (ESFA) Inter-County Trophy at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium.

The under-14s and under-16s both have the chance to get their hands on some prestigious silverware, but the Lancashire stand in their way in both age groups.

Lancashire are the current under-14s holders having won 4-2 at the PlayStation Schools’ Cup Festival at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium last year.

Both matches take place tomorrow (Wednesday) with the under-14s kicking off at 1pm followed by the under-16s at 4pm.

Formed in 2013, the PlayStation Schools’ Cup partnership between PlayStation and the ESFA is now in its second season and has provided a boost to grassroots football, helping to increase the engagement in competitive football for secondary school age categories.

A total of 19 PlayStation Schools’ Cup competitions have been staged in the 2014/15 season and have involved nearly 2,000 schools and 100,000 participants from the Under 12s to Under 15s secondary school age categories.

Since its inception, each new school and county team involved in the competitions have received a PlayStation Kit Bag, featuring a matchday football, training bibs and supporters’ flags.
