Latest from the Essex Olympian League

Some Essex Olympian League teams switched their attention to the first round of the Essex Premier Cup on Saturday, but Division One outfit Toby couldn’t get back on form.

Anthony Kelsey scored for the Newbury Park club, but they were beaten 2-1 by league rivals Shenfield AFC.

Hannakins Farm steamrolled past Bradfield Rovers, scoring four times during the first half to earn a six-goal triumph.

Anthony Aylett bagged a brace with Dave Limber and Nick Carpenter also on target during the opening 45 before Jamie Buffin and Elliot Vile, from the penalty spot, capped a memorable day.

Premier Division outfit Harold Wood Athletic edged a five-goal thriller with Benfleet while Frenford Senior’s did the same, running out 3-2 winners against Waltham Forest Reserves.

The second round of the Senior League Cup also took place and holders Kelvedon Hatch needed extra time to progress.

They won 4-2 against Great Baddow with Mike Daniels scoring twice before further strikes from Chris Muir and John Warne booked their spot in the next round.

East Londoners exited the competition following a 5-1 loss to Bishops Stortford Swifts and Harold Hill went out after losing 6-5 on penalties to Hutton after drawing 1-1 after extra time.

Bradley Woodward and Sam Patterson scored for Dagenham United at Ongar Town, but they lost out in a seven-goal thriller while Newham United blew a two-goal lead and exited following a 4-2 defeat to White Ensign.

Herongate Athletic were also sent packing by Ryan as they lost 6-3 after extra time.

Former Romford ace Reece Tranter continued his good form in the Premier Division by hitting a hat-trick for leaders Manford Way as they beat Buckhurst Hill in another five-goal clash.

May & Baker secured their second win of the campaign following a Tony Fraser goal against Springfield.

In Division One Snaresbrook beat table toppers Basildon Town 2-1 to move level on points with Town at the summit.

Canning Town are also near first place after Adam Hunt’s brace inspired them to beat Galleywood, but the biggest cheers came when Jack Mooney scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 triumph.

Westhamians scored twice late on, but still lost 3-2 at Ramsden Scotia in Division Town while Jamie Lottire’s goal earned FC Hamlets a draw against LOASS.

A last gasp goal from Dan Drury helped Upminster move to the top of the Division Three table with a hard fought 2-1 success over Hutton Reserves. Warren Taylor also netted for the new league leaders.

Harold Wood Athletic reserves sealed a 3-1 victory over Leytonstone United after Harry Hatt, Joe Pyne and Del Wettner found the net. May & Baker reserves played out a 1-1 draw with Sungate.
