West Ham United boss David Moyes knows a trip to Anfield is as hard as they come, but is relishing this weekend’s journey to Merseyside.

The Hammers head to the north west to take on Liverpool on Saturday and are unbeaten in their last three away fixtures against the Reds.

And they travel on the back of a 14-day break from action, having not played since their February 10 win over Watford at London Stadium.

Moyes said: “It’s tough for any club, it always has been. I’ve not known it any different in my time as a supporter, player or manager. Everybody has found it tough going to Anfield, but I’m looking forward to it.

“We’ve got a bit of confidence, we’re in a pretty good run of form ourselves so it will be a big test for us.

“It’s not easy but we’ll do our best to try and contain them as much as we can.

“There will always be opportunities to score against them, that’s football, and especially in the Premier League you just cannot predict the scores.

“We’ll go there and with the players we’ve got in our team, we’ll hope to cause them problems as well.”

Moyes will have Manuel Lanzini and Winston Reid available for selection, following recent injury and illness, and is hoping the squad can pick up from where they left off a fortnight ago.

He added: “We gave the players a bit of time off because they’ve earnt it from their performances and the results we’ve had up until now, they’ve done a really good job, but we’ve also worked them hard.

“We know we’re going into the business end of the season and we need to be winning games, playing well and in good shape, so hopefully we’ll get the benefit in the coming weeks.

“I would’ve rather been in the cup, 100 per cent, I wanted to stay in the cup and get through but we’re not so we’ve tried to get the players fit and refreshed and ready to go.

“The trapdoor is still not far enough away for me yet but if we do as well in the next bunch of games as we have in the last we’ll be more than safe. Lets hope we can look up. Every point we pick up is important.

“We’re always going to be under pressure at West Ham because you’re expected to be in the top half of the league and we want to be in the top half, but from the position we started in, I think we’ve done well, but I think we’ve got a long way to go.

“There are a lot of teams picking up points who weren’t expected to do that so we’ve got to be mindful and keep doing our job.”
