Our West Ham columnist had Tony Gale as his best man and Frank McAvennie at his wedding in Dubai

I have been over in the Maldives this week on my honeymoon having just got married in Dubai, but I still wanted to check in and talk about the Hammers.

We had a lovely wedding (below) with 50 people attending, including Frank McAvennie and Tony Gale, and it was fantastic.

Karen was fashionably late and as a result I heard ‘Galey’ – my best man – say ‘listen in everybody’ and he started off a rousing rendition of ‘Bubbles’ which everyone joined in with!

The bride did eventually arrive and walked down the aisle to the traditional wedding march.

‘Macca’ said he was only there to hear ‘Galey’ slaughter me in his speech and he wasn’t disappointed.

Back to the football and it was great to see both Wales and Northern Ireland join England in the finals of the Euros over the weekend.

Ireland still have a chance of joining them too, but I think that it is England who have the big chance to go furthest.

I am particularly pleased for Gareth Bale. Too often, star players like George Best and Ryan Giggs don’t get the chance to grace these big tournaments and we want players like Bale to appear on the big stage.

It’s good to see Big Sam back in management at Sunderland, a club he knows well having played for them. If anyone can keep them up, then I think Sam can, but it will not be easy.

West Ham are back in action this weekend for what will be a tough trip to Crystal Palace.

One player who could make the difference for us is Dimitri Payet who has come out on top in the league for creating chances this season.

When Payet first signed, my two boys, who were at the wedding last week, said that he was a superb player and they are absolutely right.

I think Palace are a bit better away from home, as are we of course, so I will go for a 1-1 draw.
