West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass has vowed to improve at the club next season after going through a difficult time at the London Stadium following his £10.2million move from Hull City last January.

Snodgrass, who started for Scotland in their 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw with England at Hampden Park on Saturday, struggled to keep his place in the Hammers line-up and after nine goals at Hull City, he failed to hit the net for West Ham.

However, the 29-year-old insists there were mitigating circumstances for his indifferent form.

“It’s not easy moving to a new club in the middle of the season, but I chose to join West Ham above other teams because of their great tradition and fanbase and I am determined to make it a success.”

Like Jose Fonte, who also arrived last January, Snodgrass struggled to find the sort of form that made him top scorer at the KC Stadium.

“There were some factors that made things difficult last season. I was living away from my family because we didn’t want to interrupt schooling, but next season I’ll have my wife and three kids with me.”

The Scotland international, who was replaced after 67 minutes of Saturday’s clash with England when the score was still goalless at the time.

He continued: “I was also asked to play on the left to fill the gap vacated by Dimitri Payet, but it’s never been my position. I spoke to the manager about it and hopefully I’ll be given a run of games where I’m comfortable.”

Hammers star Manuel Lanzini has finally made his senior debut for Argentina, coming on as a substitute in their friendly clash with Brazil in Melbourne, Australia.

The 24-year-old who had a fine season at the London Stadium, especially following the departure of Payet to Marseille, has been knocking on the door of the senior squad for a long time.

He was due to play for the Olympic team last summerr in Rio but was forced to pull out through injury.

But he finally got his wish when he came on for the final 10 minutes of the match, helping Argentina beat their South American rivals 1-0.

Lanzini was hoping to start last night (Tuesday) as they were scheduled to take on Singapore in a friendly match.
