National League: Chelmsford 8 London Raiders 2

London Raiders found the league leaders too strong once again as their winless run stretched to 11 matches last night.

Raiders opened the scoring with barely three minutes on the clock as Mason Webster – their man of the match in a 7-2 loss to Invicta the night before – set up Bailey Chittock to score against his former club.

And the visitors held on to that advantage until early in the second period when former Raider Billy Phillips fired home for Chieftains.

Ross Brears put the hosts 2-1 up soon after, with Grant Bartlett adding a third in the 36th minute.

Phillips fired home his second goal of the night on a Chelmsford powerplay before the second interval and saw younger brother Charlie add a fifth after just 42 seconds of the final session.

Raiders conceded a sixth goal in the 48th minute to import Lukas Zatopek and Charlie Phillips grabbed his second five minutes from time.

Captain and man of the match Tom Davis replied for Raiders, but it was little consolation as Chelmsford had the final say when Cameron Bartlett pocketed their eighth goal in the last minute.

Raiders return to Lee Valley to host Solent in a crunch clash next Saturday (February 13, 5.30pm).
