More handball success for women’s team

London GD women completed a handball double after winning their EHA National Cup final at the Copper Box Arena.

But the league champions were pushed hard by giantkillers Coventry Sharks, before claiming a 27-21 victory .

The scores were tied at 19-19 at the end of regulation time, but London pulled away in extra time to secure the silverware.

Ulrike Altong top scored for GD with seven goals, while Alexandra Barraihl had an outstanding game protecting their net.

GD coach Jose Manuel Roldan Caballero said: “It’s an amazing experience. I’m a new coach of this team. We have a great group of players. I’m so happy for the girls.”

London GD’s men could not make it a clean sweep for the club as they lost 30-29 in a close-fought match with Warrington Wolves.
