London Raiders forward Thomas Beesley is looking forward to playing against his former club Bracknell Bees this weekend.
The Lee Valley-based club host the third-place outfit at Lee Valley Ice Rink tomorrow (Saturday, 5.30pm) and the 20-year-old is keen to face his old team-mates.
“It should be an interesting match up, the Bees have a great team this year so it will be a test against another one of the so called big boys,” Beesley said.
“It will be nice to see some old faces, as after all it’s the team that gave me my first senior start so will be exciting to match up against those guys.”
The Basingstoke-born youngster iced 58 games for the Bees, scoring four goals and setting up six, for 10 points in his two year stint at the club.
The Greenwich University student who left the Berkshire-based club to join the Raiders ahead of the 2016/17 season to coincide with his studies revealed he will try to pass on any inside knowledge he has to his team-mates.
“Perhaps I will, we’ll have to see as the team is fairly different to when I played, a lot of guys have moved on now but after the first period I can probably give a few heads up or pointers to the boys if needed.”
Beesley also believes his former club are looking strong so far this season and has pin-pointed what he thinks their strengths and weaknesses will be.
“They look very strong, they have lots of experienced guys so it will be tough,” he said.
“Their strengths will be their imports Frantisek Bakrlik and Jan Bendik for sure, they also have a good blend of experience and youth in the team.
“I don’t think they have many weaknesses but maybe they might struggle on our smaller ice pad compared to the big ones they are used too.”
The Raiders will be without goalie Euan King and forward Jake Sylvester for the match as they both remain sidelined for several weeks.
The gold and blue outfit will be hoping to welcome Alan Lack back into the line-up for the match.
