London Raiders captain Tom Davis believes his side showed great spirit but need to see through games to the end.

Davis and his team-mates picked up a 5-4 win against rivals Invicta Dynamos and suffered a penalty shoot-out defeat to Streatham the following night in the NIHL Cup.

The Raiders got off to a flying start on Saturday and led 5-1 after two periods, but eased off and allowed the Dynamos to fight back and score four unanswered goals to make it 5-4.

“We started hard and fast against Invicta and I feel we dominated for 40 minutes,” Davis said.

“We took our foot off the gas in the final 20 and allowed the Invicta to work there way back into the game, but it was good to get the win.”

The gold and blue outfit had to settle for a point after a penalty shoot-out loss in south London on Sunday.

They fought back after trailing 2-0 to end the game 2-2 thanks to a brace from Slovakian forward Juraj Huska in the final period.

“Sunday we showed great character to come from 2-0 down going into the third but were unlucky to lose the extra point in the shootout.”

London Raiders will face both Streatham IHC and Invicta Dynamos again this weekend.
