London Raiders netminder Euan King is pleased with how the fixtures have panned out for the 2017/18 National League season.

King, who re-signed for the Lee Valley-based club this summer, is excited to know their fixture list and happy his side start off with a run of cup ties.

“It’s good to finally get the fixtures so we can see what we are up again this coming season,” said King.

“I’m pleased that we start with the cup games as it gives us a chance to get our legs going and hopefully qualify for the quarter-finals before the league campaign really kicks off.

“There are no easy games this season, everyone has strengthened to add to the new challenges we will all face against the ex-EPL teams.”

Raiders will face rivals Streatham Redhawks and Invicta Dynamos three times each in the first two months of the season and King believes they will be tough opponents.

“We play Invicta and Streatham a minimum of eight times each this season which should be great to give us a decent rivalry,” he added.

“Streatham have added quality with the likes of Adam Carr, Michael Farn and Ryan Watt so they are in a good place.

“Invicta managed to keep hold of their key guys last season like Damien King, Adam Rehak and Ondrej Zosiak, so both are looking strong and I am expecting 16 high intensity close games there.”

The 28-year-old also admitted he hopes to remain on top of his brother in their rivalry.

“Playing against Damien is always strange, we are very close and we both want each other to do well. I think I’m winning seven to four in games at the moment so we have a friendly brotherly rivalry which is always fun.

“Hopefully we can increase that number for me this season!”

The shot-stopper also pin-pointed the fixture he is most looking forward to ahead of the start to the campaign.

“I am especially looking forward to playing in Peterborough again,” he added. “Peterborough is my home town, I grew up playing there and still spend a lot of time at the rink, so it will be great to go back and play there, it will always be home for me.

“I make them favourites for the league right now. They added quality with the likes of Nathan Salem, Leigh Jamieson and Edward Knaggs to an already strong roster, so it will be good to go up against them.”
