The 25-year-old has decided to leave the Romford-based club after making 27 appearances this campaign, netting five goals and picking up nine assists, for a total of 14 points.

Lack has had two stints at the club and was a fan favourite in both his spells at the club.

A club statement said: “The Raiders management can confirm that they have been informed recently by Alan Lack that he will be playing no further part in this season.

“Alan had recently returned to action from a fairly serious facial injury and it is fair to say most had expected a longer absence than that he chose to take.

“We would like to thank Alan and wish him well for his future endeavours.”

Lack posted on Facebook: “You might all know my family and I have had a pretty rough and tough season.

“Unfortunately I have tried battling it and fighting my way through it all.

“After the worse eight months for my family and I, I need to take a step back from ice hockey and call it a day.

“The season has been mental I took aconcussion early in the season, then followed by my wife Samantha Lack becoming seriously unwell and needed surgery.

“After all this I took a puck to the face and it smashed me to bits.

“What I didn’t know I would get from this was a high level of anxiety from playing the sport.

“Even to the point where I have became depressed even thinking about hockey.

“This was the hardest decision I’veever had to make.

“A sport which I love and spent just under 20 years playing isnow causing me so much grief and pain.

“I have many memories, friends and experiences that the sport has given me, but mainly thank you for connecting my wife and I.

“As it stands I still have around two years worth of treatment left on my face and a bill of more than £10,000 to pay.

“The one bit of advice I want to leave, is if your playing get your own insurance it worth it.

“You don’t really get much help with it.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my family, former teammates, my road buddy Jj Pitchley, my wife, my family and all the fans who have supported throughout the playing career.”
