London Raiders produced their best result of the season to upset leaders Peterborough at Planet Ice.

Travelling without Tom Davis, Julian Smith, Jake Sylvester and JJ McGrath, Raiders welcomed goalie Euan King back from injury to face his former club.

And the visitors took the lead with barely a minute played as Juraj Huska fired home.

Huska combined with John Connolly to set up Brandon Ayliffe for a second goal late in the opening period and, as King held firm between the pipes, Raiders capitalised on another man advantage during the middle session as Marek Nahlik made it 3-0, assisted by Ollie Baldock before the midway mark.

The previously unbeaten hosts, with eight wins and a draw from their first nine matches, hit back through James Ferrera soon after Andy Munroe returning from serving a tripping penalty.

And Phantoms cut the gap to one in the 48th minute as Robbie Ferrara also found the back of King’s net to raise hopes of a comeback.

Raiders forward Olegs Lascenko was given a delay of game minor penalty with just over 11 minutes remaining and Phantoms made the visitors pay as Owen Griffiths levelled on the power play.

But Raiders regained the lead through JJ Pitchley, assisted by Huska, at 53:18 and went 5-3 up when Huska claimed his second goal of the night with less than two minutes on the clock.

Phantoms withdrew goalie Adam Long for an extra skater in the closing stages, but the move backfired as Lascenko fired towards the empty net and was awarded a goal when Thomas Norton pushed it off its moorings.

Despite making 43 saves, King was pipped to the man of the match award by four-point Huska and Raiders will look to make it back-to-back wins when they host Milton Keynes Thunder at Lee Valley on Sunday (5.30pm).
