Tower Bridge was packed with a full capacity audience when it hosted the premiere of ‘Live Music Sculpture’ on the high-level walkways 140ft above the Thames.
Queues on Tower Bridge in sunset to get into concertSome 500 music lovers turned up for Sunday’s free performance, part of the City of London Festival’s 50th anniversary.
Audiences got a unique 360-degree musical experience as they walked past 30 musicians performing Samuel Bordoli’s work with the spectacular London skyline sunset as a backcloth.
The 15-minute work was repeated in rolling performances for two hours with audiences facing long queues to get into the iconic Victorian landmark.
Music graduate Jason Osborne, who was in the audience, said: “It was almost like a 3D experience. Bordoli is a talented composer.”
It was also performed earlier at The Monument, near London Bridge, where the music travelled up its 311-step spiral staircase with the audience experiencing an aural sense of ascension as they climbed the 17th century stone commemoration to the Great Fire of London.
