Works of art by east London artists are being rotated on show in the residential foyers of the new East Village neighbourhood in the former 2012 Olympic Athletes Village.
Some of the artists turned up for an open day on Saturday to meet the public and explain the thoughts behind their works.
The collection art of 70 works has been installed in 31 entrance foyers and are being rotated twice over the coming year.
The foyer art is part of a programme set up by the village residential owners, Get Living London, which rents out the 1,439 properties, to integrate east London’s world of creativity into the new E20 neighbourhood.
“Bringing art to the foyers has created a real talking point,” Get Living London’s Neil Young said.
“Hearing the vision and inspiration behind the works first-hand was an opportunity for East Village to celebrate east London’s artistic talent.”
The programme involves arts organizations such Hackney Wick Fish Island group, Hackney WickED, Stratford Rising and Hidden Art.
Artists include Eleanor Bedlow, Felix Friedmann, Dolores de Sade, Aida, Sean Raggett, Nick Simpson, Neil Weerdermeester and Vanessa Short.
The company also arranged public tours of East Village as part of the “getting to know you” programme.
