Little flotilla arrives at Canary Wharf

A ‘flotilla’ of 300 illuminated floating paper boats sailed into Canary Wharf today (Fri) to be illuminated by ever-changing colours signalled from the mobile phones of passers-by.

The ‘Voyage’ Winter Lights art installation in the Middle Dock by architect Claudio Benghi and lighting artist Gloria Ronchi is a light show to brighten up the dull winter evenings among the skyscrapers in the business and shopping district. It has been commissioned by Canary Wharf Group to ‘launch’ their 2013 ‘Sculpture at Work’ programme.

Passers-by can interact with the artwork until February 15 between dusk and 2am each day to change colours and patterns by connecting their mobile phone to the Voyage wi-fi network, going to and following the path.
