An artist's unconventional take on the the process of taxidermy are on display in Brick Lane Gallery this week.
Harriet Horton took a taxidermy course two years ago and has since developed her own interpretation of the art, adding unnatural elements to the animals.
Ms Horton, 25. said her aim when working is to create something unique, and admits people can be surprised by the end product.
“I definitely went out of my way to ensure the pieces didn’t resemble traditional taxidermy”, she said.
“Sometimes I’m asked whether my pieces are real taxidermy works as they don’t imitate their natural colourings, but I’ve yet to find people who are shocked by it - most are simply interested in knowing how taxidermy works and how I preserve the skins.”
The display continues at Brick Lane Gallery until Sunday.
