Set in new York City, Fahrenheit is a dark paranormal thriller that begins with a murder in a seedy diner's toilet. The twist in the tale is that the murderer is you, the player, and that you awake from a hypnotic trance to find a dead man at your feet. After cleaning up the mess and making your escape, control switches to a pair of cops investigating the scene and so the mystery continues as other playable characters are introduced. The controls are novel, the presentation is faultless and the game only fails by polluting its unique narrative by relying on ridiculous supernatural explanations. It's a marvellous reinvention of the adventure game that features three endings and branching storylines that twist and turn at every opportunity. A great budget re-release.
