The wait is almost over. Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for Xbox 360 and PS3 on 29 April in what promises to be the biggest game of the year. Players take on the role of Niko Bellic, an immigrant from Eastern Europe who rapidly climbs the ladder of organised crime in the New York pastiche that is Liberty City. Coding such next-gen drama for two very different consoles hasn't been easy. According to developer Rockstar it was the PlayStation 3's notoriously esoteric architecture that caused the most difficulties, but both versions will be identical aside from differing downloadable content.
