drawing its inspir ation from an aging sci-fi novel of the same name, Hard To Be A God offers an intriguing scenario of a future Earth sending a special agent to the planet Arkanar to find out why it has stagnated as a medieval world and not developed any further. Infiltrating Arkanar society isn't easy, but once you've been accepted into this ancient world the plot twists and turns at every opportunity as yokels either treat you as a deity or attempt to beat the living daylights out of you. While the game's peasants, robbers and monks have access to clubs, bows and spears you'll eventually be able to clobber them with laser swords and machine gun fire. It's a fun RPG, with loads of side quests, but it's let down by a terrible combat system and poor graphics.
