TREE-hugging sweethearts can celebrate Valentine's Day the eco-friendly way with a menu packed full of aphrodisiacs at Shoreditch's Water House restaurant.

Whether it's myth or science, certain foods are said to ignite the smouldering embers of passion and the ethical St Valentine's aphrodisiac menu, features fresh, sensual, seasonal ingredients from sustainable sources, complemented by a selection of organic, biodynamic wines.

Diners can share legendary lothario Casanova's favourite, oysters with ginger or prawns with coriander mayonnaise and artichoke with mint and truffle oil or a prawn won-ton and a celery veloute with truffle oil, followed by an antipasto of marinated mozzarella di buffala with chilli and sage, carrot and coriander salad, saffron cauliflower and pine nuts salad and roast quail with ginger and cardamom.

For a main course, couples can choose between seared salmon gravelax with braised fennel and liquorice sauce or rich roast venison saddle and potatoes with port and chocolate sauce and pan-fried violette artichokes with carrot and ginger mash.

Romantic desserts include a sharing plate of chocolate coeur fondant, hazelnut fondant, cardamom ice cream, ginger sundae with almonds, pear and rosewater sorbet and frappuccino.

The Water House is on the banks of the Regent's Canal and has eco credentials including renewable hydro-electric power and using the ambient water temperature from the canal and the latest pump technology for energy efficient cooling.

Roof-mounted solar panels provide hot water, hydro-carbon fridges reduce energy consumption while a wormery deals with the raw food waste.

Water House, in Orsman Road, is also one of the UK's first restaurants to produce its own premium filtered bottled water on-site, using a filtration system.
