The intellectually gruelling feat of answering more than 3,000 questions in one day was accomplished by an activist on a fundraising drive.

Guy Shennan is hoping the sponsored “quiz-a-thon” he completed around Bethnal Green on Saturday will help raise more than £1,000 for a group aiming to build links between social workers in the UK and the middle-eastern country of Palestine.

Guy managed to answer 68 per cent (2,134) questions correctly during the 12 hour stint, having been asked a total of 3,126.

Questions were asked at the Gallery Café in Old Ford Road, and the Approach Tavern in Approach Road. Guy’s specialist subjects included 1970s punk rock, Preston North End FC and The East End.

He raised £490 for the Palestine-UK Social Work Network on the day, as well as £300 in advance – and the donations are still coming in.
