A 16-year-old has been convicted of theft and assault after a man was lured into what police described as a “honey trap” in Shadwell.
The 18-year-old victim was called and asked to meet an ex-girlfriend in Tobacco Dock last July and shortly after meeting her, he was attacked by a group of males.
He was hit in the face several times with a metal pole leaving him with bruising and cuts and his mobile phone was stolen.
The 16-year-old was arrested nearby by police but denied being involved, saying he was helping the victim despite the mobile phone being found in his possession.
He was found guilty at Thames Youth Court last Wednesday and sentenced to a six month curfew and tag, a 12 month supervision order, 80 hours of unpaid work and �200 compensation.
