A project using converted containers for start-ups has opened in east London for entrepreneurs looking for cheap work space.

ContainerVille has been launched by The Estate Office Shoreditch, aimed at start-ups to grow and expand using containers converted for business use.

It has 30 storage containers by the Regent’s Canal, off Broadway Market, at £1,200 monthly rental each and minimal overheads.

Small businesses are free to “grow more organically.”

The company’s Phil Bouette said: “We are taking a long-term view of property ownership and offering flexibility to tenants, whether established or new.”

The containers have undergone a total refit and transformed into fully-functioning commercial spaces for up to five people each.

The project is aimed at small firms working together, sharing containers or operating in partnership

The company wants to inspire future tenants with the historic canal-side location, by the former Bethnal Green gasworks, which inspired the technology of the early industrial revolution 200 years ago, while Estate Office Shoreditch in Scrutton Street is cheek-by-jowl with Old Street’s 21st century ‘Tech City’.
