POLICE carrying out a series of dawn raids in East London have arrested 20 drug-dealing suspects.

They seized drugs, drug paraphernalia, cash and a gun silencer in the raids, Scotland Yard confirmed tonight.

Those arrested remain in custody at East London police stations for a second night.

The raids were aimed at clamping down on Class A drugs being peddled in Leyton and surrounding areas.

“This operation will have an impact on the supply of Class A drugs in Waltham Forest,” said Det Ins Chris Robson who led the raids.

“We were aware of individuals flouting the law and these arrests act as a warning to anyone involved in dealing that we’re determined to rid the area of drugs.”

Detectives conducted the raids from 6am yesterday (Jan 14) with back-up from the Met’s Territorial Support Group and the Drugs dog section.
