THE 2012 Olympics organisers have declared an open weekend’ with 750 events up and down the country ready for the three year countdown’ to the London Games.

Events tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday give the public access behind the scenes in the arts, culture and sport.

The Open Weekend is a curtain raiser’ to the annual countdown celebrations to the Games being staged at Stratford in East London, with the three years to go’ starting on Monday.

The Open House is having a domino’ effect in East London on Sunday, when giant dominoes are knocked over along a 10-mile route from Mile End Park down to Greenwich on the other side of the Thames, with actors and performers helping them tumble.

HOW DO THEY DO IT?

In case you’re wondering, the domino trail goes through the foot tunnel between the Isle of Dogs and Greenwich.

Times are:

3.30pm: Dominoes begin Mile End Park, through Matt’s Gallery, then boarding a boat on Regent’s Canal.

6.30pm: Boat docks at Limehouse, dominoes travel to through Isle of Dogs pausing for performance picnic’ at Island Gardens opposite Greenwich.

8.30pm: Dominoes cross the Thames through the Greenwich tunnel.

8.45pm: Dominoes arrive Old Royal Naval College for the final performance.

Another event in Tower Hamlets, one of the five Olympic host’ boroughs, is Open House at the 700-year-old Bow Church on a traffic island in the middle of the A11 Bow Road today (Friday) and Saturday, 11am-5pm.
