The 'outreach' scheme set up by Reed 'welfare to work' agency which has helped 300 women find long-term employment is being run for another year in the East End.
It identified Bengali and Somali households being among the most deprived in Tower Hamlets, with three-quarters of the women being out of work and not claiming benefits. Most had children and had husbands on low income.
"Many women are keen to work, but lack confidence," said the agency's Abby Gbadamosi.
"They also lack contacts and the skills to put themselves forward.
"But we're giving them opportunities that might otherwise seem out of reach, to enable them to gain the tools they need to get work."
The agency is now visiting community centres with advice on how to find jobs and what options are available.
