Whilst the statistics surrounding violent crime are extremely concerning, there are many robust initiatives being undertaken within the community to address the issue.
I recently attended a council Violent Crime Summit meeting in Whitechapel where I gained an insight into how various local agencies are working collaboratively to implement short and long-term solutions to the rise in knife crime.
The issue of anti-social behaviour was also high on the agenda at recent meetings with residents and councillors, where I heard how the local police are joining forces with the council to clamp down on this blight on our streets and what more can be done to secure more police resources.
On a more positive note, it was wonderful to join Mayors Khan and Biggs and living legend, Sir Mo Farah, to launch the Daily Mile Campaign at Cubitt Town Junior School, which is aimed at getting children across London to adopt a more active lifestyle.
