A festival for ‘start-up’ entrepreneurs from ethnic communities to get on the business ladder is being staged in Canary Wharf.
Some 200 young people are being invited on March 9 to learn the ‘building blocks’ of launching a business, being staged at KPMG accountancy organisation’s Canada Square HQ by Foundervine social enterprise organisation.
Foundervine was set up in October to put young entrepreneurs in touch with industry leaders and to address the lack of diversity in start-up enterprises.
“It is common for those with ethnic backgrounds to leave school without the skills and networks to pursue careers,” Foundervine’s Izzy Obeng said. “These events give them the means to launch their own ventures, with our aim to foster the next generation of innovators.”
The start-up festival includes talks, panel discussions and speakers such as Ariatu PR founder Ronke Lawal, Hatch Enterprise chief executive Dirk Bischof and Santander bank’s deputy regional director Michael Wilson.
Places at Foundervine’s founders festival on March 9 can be booked online.
