Residents can view updated plans for a new civic centre in Whitechapel at two public exhibitions this week.

The Grade II listed building, the former home of the Royal London Hospital, had served the community since 1757 until it closed five years.

Earlier this year, Tower Hamlets Council revealed plans for a new civic centre with the entire ground floor being used to bring all council services and partner organisations together in one place.

The new plans have been drawn up by the council following a public consultation into the first proposals.

John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “There were many valuable contributions from residents.

“Now there is a last chance to see the plans before we submit a planning application.

The public consultations will take place on Friday at the Osmani Centre in Underwood Road from 12pm – 6pm, and the following day at the Idea Store Whitechapel, from noon until 4pm.
