Tower Hamlets joint-manager Ade Abayomi believes missed chances cost them the three points against Ilford.

Abayomi’s men were leading 2-1 after 67 minutes thanks to goals from O’Neal Rowe and Wale Odedoyin, but slipped to a late defeat as Isaac Nkosi equalised, before Karolis Atutis nicked the winner in the 84th minute for the Foxes at Mile End Stadium.

“I’m very disappointed, it’s one of those games where the chances flow your way, you don’t take them they took theirs and at the end of the day we’ve just got ourselves to blame for not taking ours.

“The least we deserve from that game is a draw, but that’s football for you, you have to take it on the chin.

“They didn’t play better than us, whoever watched the game would probably confirm that, but it’s one of those ones that are hard to take.”

The Mile End-based club have lost two in a row after falling 3-0 to Basildon United on Saturday and Abayomi admits his side just need to believe in themselves.

“The boys have to still believe that they’re not playing bad, when we went to Basildon it was a tough game, they had the edge of the game so we couldn’t complain about it.

“In this game particularly we didn’t deserve to lose it and we have to console the boys and go from there.”

The hosts equalised in the 55th minute when O’Neal Rowe let fly from long range and picked out the top right corner of the net to make it 1-1 and Abayomi praised the player.

“Everybody that knows O’Neal, knows how special a player he is and he was close to me when he had the ball and I said go for it, as I’ve seen him do it so many times and it was another great goal from him.”

Abayomi believes his side need to think about how they lost and not let missed chances cost them again.

“The manner we lost the game is something they have to think about now and know when they get the chances they have to take them.

“Goals win games and if you can’t put yours away, then there is nothing you can say about it.”
