Tower Hamlets 0 West Essex 1
Tower Hamlets suffered their eighth successive defeat after conceding an injury-time winner to West Essex at Mile End Stadium last night.
Ade Abayomi’s men had recorded a string of seven losses since their thrilling 4-4 draw at Basildon United in early November, conceding 20 times and scoring just four.
And they might have fancied their chances of ending that run against a West Essex side that had been beaten 5-1 at Redbridge in their most recent outing on Friday night.
Both sides had chances in the first half, but James Bromley and Jayvon Case-Jarrett spurned the best for the visitors.
Michael Mignot went close for West Essex after the restart when played through, but he could not convert.
Tower Hamlets had another let-off when Mignot blazed a shot over with 15 minutes remaining and looked to have done enough to earn a share of the spoils from a goalless draw as normal time drew to a close.
But Isaac Marfo popped up in the second minute of injury time to tap in a winner for West Essex and leave Hamlets with that losing feeling once again.
The east Londoners visit Burnham Ramblers on Saturday, before a trip to Waltham Forest in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy on Tuesday, December 21 in their final outing of the calendar year.
Mile End Stadium co-tenants Sporting Bengal are due to visit Redbridge for a league fixture tonight, while London Bari face the tough trip to leaders Barking.
Clapton have a home tie against Greenwich Borough in the London Senior Cup at the Old Spotted Dog.
