Captain at the weekend admits he would like to remain at Brisbane Road after enjoying all four years with the club

Lloyd James admits Leyton Orient feels like home, but doesn’t know if he’ll be playing his football at the club next season.

The 28-year-old has been at Brisbane Road since the summer of 2012 and played a crucial role in nearly getting the O’s promoted in the 2013/14 season.

He has struggled with injuries the past two years and missed three months of this campaign with an Achilles problem.

During the 2014/15 season the former Southampton youngster was ruled out for a lengthy period of time with a broken leg.

James would like to remain with Orient, but with his contract running out at the end of June, he is unsure what the future holds.

He said: “I’d like to stay but we’ll have to see what happens. Like I said before, I’ve not been offered a new contract so we’ll have to see.

“I’ve been here four years and enjoyed all four, the fans are great and to be honest it feels like home, but without a manager and things in place, you have to weigh it up.”

James is one of nine players out of contract at the end of the season along with captain Mathieu Baudry.

Six of the current squad are on loan at Orient and they will also be departing once the current campaign finishes.

But James, who captained O’s during the 1-0 win against Mansfield Town on Saturday, added: “I don’t think the squad could become dismantled.

“We’ve got a great dressing room and everyone knows the situation. Once we cross that white line we all work hard. Whether we are here next year or it is new players, you know they’ll be giving 100 per cent.”

The former Wales under-21 international was pleased Orient managed to finish with a win at Brisbane Road.

Ollie Palmer scored the only goal of the game, heading in James’ cross in the 49th minute against his former club.

It moves the east Londoners up to ninth in the table ahead of their last game of the season this weekend at Yeovil Town.

James said: “I think it was important we gave something back to the fans because they’ve been fantastic all season.

“We know we’ve underachieved with what we’ve got in the dressing room, but it’s nice to finish with a win.”
