Big hearted builders on a new hotel construction site rushed to the rescue after a little duckling that got separated from the rest of its family while on a stroll on a busy street in east London.
The workers at Manhattan Loft Gardens in the Stratford City development saved the duckling from oncoming traffic.
“A mother duck and her six ducklings were crossing the road next to the site when one duckling got separated,” the site health and safety manager Jon Crocombe explained.
“We found it alone and sad, in the gutter, in danger from oncoming traffic.
“So we stopped the traffic and Bogdan Parvu, who works for one of our contractors, brought the duckling onto the site for safety.
“We looked after the little fella until the RSPCA arrived and took him to a safe nest to try and reunite it with its mother.”
Staff at Bouygues UK called the RSPCA for advice to make sure they were able to take proper care of the duckling until the animal rescue charity was able to pop by and collect it.
