Kortney Hudson provides player ratings following the 1-0 win at Brisbane Road
Leyton Orient’s season at home is over following their 1-0 win over Mansfield Town on Saturday where former Stags player Ollie Palmer clinched the winning goal.
The victory leaves O’s in ninth place and they leapfrogged the visitors in the League Two table before the final game of the campaign away at Yeovil Town this weekend.
Alex Cisak (7) – Despite spells of strong pressure on his defence, very little of the shots were on target which left the Australian with little to do, but he did well when he was called upon gathering an Adam Chapman free kick low at his near-post.
Sean Clohessy (6.5) – A lot of effort from the right-back in the first half to link up with Blair Turgott and try and get the early crosses in, but became much quieter in the second period.
Aron Pollock (9) – Brilliant debut and man of the match performance by the young defender, he made strong challenges and played many chance creating long balls out of defence. He looked confident on the ball and could’ve easily been mistaken for a centre back with years of match experience.
Shaun Brisley (8) – He made strong tackles and timely interceptions, and played a vital role in earning their clean sheet alongside Pollock in the heart of the defence.
Peter Ramage (6) – Experienced ace played a decent game at left-back, winning plenty of headers and preventing the tricky Mansfield winger Emmanuel Dieseruvwe from impacting on the game.
Blair Turgott (7) – Worked hard to contribute to attacks by winning flick-ons and dribbling into dangerous positions. The former West Ham United winger also made sure he tracked back and fulfilled his defensive duties.
Nigel Atangana (5.5) – Played well by winning the ball back and looking to move forward with play before being substituted at the start of the second half.
Lloyd James (7.5) – O’s captain was good in terms of providing the forward men with plenty of balls to run on to and to hold up, he also provided the assist for the goal, but looked frustrated at times when looking for a pass in the midfield and not having many options.
Sandro Semedo (7.5) – The debutant midfielder played and excelled in first half, running his socks off up and down the line collecting the ball from the midfield. He looked to get forward and create a chance, but the Portuguese midfielders performance faded in the second half.
Ollie Palmer (8) – Former Mansfield man worked very hard in both halves and it paid off when he headed a beautifully weighted free kick into the net. This came after rounding the keeper in the first half, but he not being able to find an angle to shoot from despite their being an open goal.
Jay Simpson (5) – Orient’s top goal-scorer, who was awarded with the Player of the Year award prior to the game, was almost non-existent as his partner Palmer done most of the work up top.
Substitutes:
Sammy Moore, for Atangana 45. (5.5) – He battled well in midfield but is lucky to have not been punished further by Mansfield after committing a number of unnecessary fouls in the Orient half.
Jerome Binom-Williams, for Ramage 58. (5.5) – Done a decent job at left back to contribute to keeping the clean sheet and look to get forward whenever possible.
Josh Koroma, for Semedo 72. (5.5) – Had just about enough time to show the home crowd that he was capable of playing for the O’s with many strong runs down the line looking to create a chance for the strikers.
