Brisbane Road boss reflects on 2-0 win over Crawley and Sean Clohessy’s performance

Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan was full of praise for Armand Gnanduillet following his two-goal display against Crawley Town.

The 24-year-old scored just before half time and then struck again in the 71st minute to inspire a 2-0 win over the Reds in League Two.

It had been a difficult week for the French forward after his uncle passed away on Tuesday.

And therefore the O’s boss was thrilled with his performance and his stunning opener at Brisbane Road.

“I’m delighted for Armie, he has had a bit of bad news this week, but he has come in and we have all got round him,” said Nolan.

“We are a tight-knit bunch and for him to put in a performance like he has today, I’m so pleased for him.

“I keep telling him to keep hold of the ball and I remember just a minute before his first saying that to him and he did and turned before hitting it into the top corner.

“Afterwards I told him ‘see what happens when you listen to me’ so I will take credit for that one, but no he is a fantastic lad. We have a great bunch here and he has just added to what we already had.”

Nolan also hailed the effort of Sean Clohessy, making his first start since being dropped after the Cambridge United loss on January 31.

The right-back replaced Jobi McAnuff on the right-side of midfield today and put in an assured display.

He played a part in the second too, crossing in for Gnanduillet to volley home and delight the Orient boss.

“The second was fantastic and Sean come in for Jobi today because he unfortunately got a knock in training during the week on his ankle so had to drop out,” added Nolan.

“Sean was very unlucky to lose his place before, but since I have come in he has been fantastic. He is always one of the top lads in training who gives his all every day.

“He is a very honest lad and I thought his performance today was excellent and he deserves that great assist because he worried their wing-back and then full-back all game.

“That was why they took him off so delighted for Sean, but more pleased we got the second to finish the game off.”
