It’s not every day a little girl gets a new baby sister—but that’s what happened to four-year-old Lixi-Louise Callahan on New Year’s Day.
Tiny Jordan Jay arrived in the world weighing just 5lb 1oz, not much bigger than two bags of sugar.
She was one of nine babies born on Friday in the maternity centre in the Royal London Hospital at Whitechapel.
She was back home at nearby Cable Street in Shadwell the same day, with mum Kayleigh, 25, and her delighted sister.
“Lixi-Louise is absolutely over the moon,” Kayleigh said. “She is thrilled and helps me bath our new baby.”
Jordan Jay arrived after just five hours easy labour.
“It was short, sharp and quick,” Kayleigh added. “But she had to be induced because she was so tiny.”
Dad Jason, 36, a glazier by trade, was at the birth giving Kayleigh support with her breathing.
Big sister Lixi-Louise was a springtime baby, born in May, 2011. Now she has a New Year’s Day sister to play with, but will have to wait awhile till she learns to walk and talk.
