Essex Senior League: Tower Hamlets 5 Enfield 2

Having secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season, Tower Hamlets welcome title-chasing Bowers to Mile End Stadium tonight (Monday).

Ade Abayomi’s side came out on top in a seven-goal thriller with lowly Enfield on Saturday.

Thomas Abalo put the home side in front after four minutes with a powerful header into the bottom left hand corner after Deevorn Miller delivered a precise corner kick from the right hand side.

But Enfield spared little time in issuing a response with Gary Matthew lashing the ball into the bottom left hand corner after Tower Hamlets disastrously failed to clear a long throw.

The visitors continued to create chances, with Alex Salmon squandering an excellent opportunity after James Copping slid a defence-splitting through ball into his path only for Salmon to shoot straight at keeper Andrei Stinca.

Soon after, Enfield were awarded another chance with Michael Hopkins capitalising on a skewed Tower Hamlets clearance. Hopkins met the ball with his head, but Stinca tipped the ball narrowly over the bar.

But with 35 minutes played Jordan Warren played a long ball towards Salmon, who flicked it into the path of Ashley Blackburn, who shrugged off a Tower Hamlets defender and beat Stinca to give Enfield the lead.

The visitors looked to be taking their lead into the break until Sunday Wasiu dispossessed an Enfield defender which left him one-on-one with the onrushing goalkeeper Jordan Warren.

Wasiu calmly tapped the ball past the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.

Tower Hamlets began the second half brightly with Wasiu doubling his tally for the day after the Enfield defence failed to deal with a long ball leaving him one-on-one with Warren once again.

Three minutes later, the Mile End outfit got another through Rahim Adama Bamba who weaved his way through the Enfield defence, cut inside onto his right foot and curled the ball inside the far post.

Miller went close for the home side after some confusion in the Enfield defence as Warren came way out of his box and sliced his clearance.

The ball fell to Miller who unleashed a first time shot from 30 yards, but it went agonisingly over the bar.

Bamba got the final goal of the game, though, after yet another error in the Enfield defence.

Neither centre-back could deal with a long ball which bounced between them and into the path of Bamba who remained composed and slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner to complete the scoring.
