Pupils scored a 99 per cent pass rate in today’s A-level results at Stepney’s huge Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation of Schools in London’s East End.
It was the second year running the school hit 99 per cent and the fourth consecutive year of overall improvements in grades A* to E.
Passes at A* to E improved by 10pc on a year ago, at 33pc, while A* to B grades were up four per cent to 62pc.
“We are all absolutely over the moon with another brilliant set of results,” the school’s communications chief James Johnston said. “These were our highest-ever results and mark a fourth year of improvement.”
Almost a third of all grades were A* and A, rounding off a good year for the school following its Ofsted report back in May.
One outstanding pupil was 17-year-old Fatoumata Barry who got two A*s and two As. She has an offer to take biomedicine at Sheffield University.
Aswad Martin got an A and two Bs and goes to Surrey Uni to take maths, while Connor Philp’s two As and a B gets him to Warwick for English Literature and Karolina Dastikaite’s A*, A and B sends her off to study art.
Bishop Challoner’s top marks buck the national trend of a falling proportion of higher-grade passes.
AS-level pupils in Year 12 have also made the grade with their results, making a good start to their A-level courses ready for next year. Doing specially well in AS were Esther Gbenebor, Henry Prempeh, Bruno Campos and Mila Mundrova.
