Nick Clegg will meet students from Stepney Green at the launch of a new diversity project.
The Naz Legacy Foundation Diversity Programme, which is named after Naz Bokhari, the first Muslim and first Asian head teacher in the UK, aims to promote excellence in education and positive integration into British society.
Youngsters from Stepney Green Maths, Computing and Science College are among the students from three London schools who have been invited to the launch at the National Portrait Gallery next Wednesday.
They will have a special opportunity to visit the gallery and chat to the Deputy Prime Minister.
Other dignitaries joining the schoolchildren will include HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan, Zac Goldsmith MP and Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP.
Nick Clegg said: “As a champion of social mobility, I believe that everyone, whatever their background or circumstances, should have the opportunity to rise as far and high as their talents and ambitions allow them.”
Prime Minister David Cameron and Prince Charles are among those who have leant their support to the foundation in the past.
