A woman’s body was found in the water at Shadwell basin yesterday, police have said.
Police were called to the scene, off The Highway between Wapping and Shadwell, at around 12.04pm after members of the public reported seeing a body in the water. A crew from the Metropolitan Police’s marine unit also attended, and the body was removed from the basin.
The body is yet to be formally identified, and police said they are treating the death as non-suspicious. Detectives from Tower Hamlets are investigating, Scotland Yard confirmed.
