The Poppy Appeal reached a record £100,000 in Limehouse, Poplar and the Isle of Dogs, a charity statement has shown.
Street collections in Chrisp Street Market and outside DLR and Underground stations in November were boosted by donations from Canary Wharf businesses.
“To break six figures is amazing,” said Tower Hamlets councillor Craig Aston, who organised the 2012 local appeal. “Every penny is going straight to the Royal British Legion to help ex-servicemen and women and their families in desperate need of help.”
The total £100,379 includes donations from companies added to cash given to collectors in Limehouse, Poplar, Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs.
