Labour’s candidate to fight next year’s Mayoral election in Tower Hamlets is set to be unveiled next week.
The final hustings in the internal selection process were held last week ahead of a vote this weekend.
A shortlist of candidates was announced in early March. It featured London Assembly Member for City and East John Biggs, former leader of Tower Hamlets Council Cllr Helal Abbas, Cllr Rachael Saunders and former deputy leader of the council Cllr Sirajul Islam.
Voting will be held on Saturday from 9am-9pm at Positive East, 159 Mile End Road.
The successful candidate will take over from outgoing Labour group leader Cllr Joshua Peck ahead of 2014’s battle against Independent Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman.
