Fire fighters tackled a blaze in a derelict building in Bethnal Green Road this afternoon.
Five people escaped the blaze as it tore through the ground floor of a disused building and one person had to be led to safety by fire crews when they arrived at around 1pm.
Three engines from Shoreditch and Bethnal Green fire stations attended the blaze near the junction of Jersey Street and Bethnal Green Road.
It was brought under control at around 1.45pm.
