Brick Lane will host a street party on Friday to celebrate Tower Hamlets’ status as Curry Capital 2012 ahead of the Olympics.
The festival will include a curry cook off between chefs from the lane’s famous curry houses, and a world record attempt to build the tallest poppadom tower.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: “Brick Lane is a vibrant area and in many ways its history embodies the Olympic spirit; triumphing over adversity, welcoming new cultures and providing first class entertainment.”
The party starts at 4pm on Friday, and will last into the evening.
