One of the East End’s most famous daughters, former Record Breakers host Cheryl Baker, presented staff of train operator C2C with medals last week after they set a new record for punctuality.
The impromptu ceremony was held at Fenchurch Street Station to recognise the 97% of trains run by the company reaching their destination on time last year.
Cheryl Baker, who is orignally from Bethnal Green, presented the BBC’s Record Breakers show for 11 years.
She said: “I’ve always said that dedication is what you need to be a record breaker. Everyone at c2c can be proud of what they’ve achieved, and I’m glad to see that all the effort they have put in has been rewarded with a new UK record.”
