A project to record people’s memories of London’s East End is being run the first Friday every month at the Bishopsgate Institute near Liverpool Street station.
Volunteers have so far recorded recollections from people who witnessed the 1936 Battle of Cable Street when dockers and tailoring workers clashed with Mosley‘s Blackshirts at Whitechapel, the 1994 IRA bombing at Devonshire Square—or people remembering a night out at a music hall and ending up with jellied eels at Aldgate.
The next drop-in session is tomorrow (Friday) at 2.15pm, with the chance to share memories and photographs in an informal atmosphere.
