THE jailing of a 23-year-old man who was running a homemade heroin factory will hit the East London drugs trade hard, according to detectives.
Mohammed Saleh, of Stepney Causeway, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court for his involvement in the production of heroin.
Detectives used DNA samples found after a raid at Ellen Wilkinson House, Usk Street, to track down Saleh.
During the swoop, which took place last March, they discovered heroin worth more than �70,000 as well as machinery for making heroin packages.
Saleh was arrested and charged during November last year.
Det Insp Colin Stephenson, from the Central Task Force said: "This seizure will undoubtedly have resulted in a reduction in the supply of heroin across east London.
"His sentence will hopefully serve as a major deterrent to people involved in the drugs trafficking trade.
"My team continues to target serious and organised crime in east London.
