TELLY'S architectural historian Dan Cruickshank is to reveal how "the wages of sin" have shaped the story of Georgian London.
He has agreed to give a public talk in London's East End next month as part of the Tower Hamlets Libraries Festival.
Reading events take place in the libraries and Idea Store centres from December 4 to 12 where the public can meet authors, discuss books and listen to readings during the nine-day extravaganza.
Cruickshank talks about his new book, The secret history of Georgian London: How Wages of Sin Shaped the Capital, at Whitechapel Idea Store on December 10, from 7.30 to 9pm.
Other authors in the series of public talks include Martin Knight, Manzu Islam, John Bennett, Tim Coates, John Harvey and Kia Abdulla. The East End's first-ever literary festival focuses on life, crime and history.
The libraries are on the way to a record one million book lendings this year, Town Hall estimates claim. Lending has increased with Tower Hamlets hoping to hit the 'one million mark' by April.
