A TOP consultant who claims he was sacked from the Royal London for being a whistleblower was accused of trying to "stir up discontent" among his colleagues today as the second week of his employment tribunal kicked-off.

Consultant radiologist Dr Otto Chan is taking his former bosses at Bart's and the London Trust to a tribunal where he is claiming unfair dismissal after he was fired in June 2006.

The East London Tribunal Service started at Anchorage House in Blackwall last Monday.

And the father-of-seven told the hearing, the radiology department was "dysfunctional" and he had found a backlog of 100,000 x-ray films abandoned in a store cupboard at the hospital in Whitechapel.

He also claims the training system was in disarray with junior doctors harassed and bullied and left unsupervised while being told to practice procedures they had not been trained for on patients.

But this morning Professor Peter Armstrong, the former Head of Training and Clinical Director of radiology told the hearing that the trust had a "very good training programme" and Dr Chan's behaviour was generally "very disruptive".

The tribunal is expected to last until the end of the week.
