PEOPLE living in houses in Tower Hamlets will now have their mixed recycling, food and garden waste collected weekly on the same day.
The new collection system starts on Monday to make recycling easier and encourage more people to get involved.
A further 3,000 houses will receive the food waste service and will be asked to save food scraps in a kitchen caddy which will be delivered along with an outside storage bin and instructions to help get them started.
The food waste which can be recycled includes raw and cooked fruit and vegetables, bread, bones, plate scrapings, egg shells as well as raw and cooked fish and meat products.
Letters are being sent to affected residents to explain how the system works.
